Custom painted 300mph top fuel funny car.
This 2500bhp funny car is based on a 1999 Pontiac Firebird.
Special thanks go to Total Car Solutions (of Derby) with whom I shared this project.
WORK IN PROGRESS:
The
body is prepped, primed and flatted...
On
goes the metallic grey to silver basecoat...
The
basecoat is lacquered so it can be flatted back for the graphics...
The
tribal flames are masked out...
The
pearl blue fade is sprayed...
This
pic shows the amazing colours within the blue pearl!
The
tribal flames are lacquered, unmasked and flatted back...
Special
attention is given to the edges to remove the 'step....
The
secondary graphics are masked out...
The
white to siver pearl is sprayed on...
and
unmasked...
The
flames are shadowed between their layers...
The background fuzz of the lettering is airbrushed first...
The
fuzz is masked and the lettering is ready for airbrushing...
The
lettering is airbrushed and unmasked...
The
flames are shadowed against the grey and the skull is airbrushed...
Almost
there!
The
flames are pinstriped...
in
a bright blue...
and
the lettering is outlined in black...
The
rear lights are masked for airbrushing...
And
the paint is airbrushed on...
The
front lights and vents are airbrushed in and the body is lacquered!
